The UML would never support any amendment to the country’s main law if it was made just to meet the interests of a particular party, he said. In his response regarding journalists’ query about the efforts being made by the ruling partners at the request of Madhes-centric parties, the UML chair said the party was not formally consulted about this by anybody else and it held no meaning to give views on such issue. “Federalism is not only the issue of Madhes, instead it is the national agenda. Demands of Madhes were addressed through the first amendment to the constitution,” the former PM added. CPN (UML) Chair KP Sharma Oli has said that the constitution should not be amended under pressure or manipulation from a particular party, hurting the interests of the nation. Talking to media persons at Tribhuvan International Airport (TIA) following his return from a regular medical checkup in Thailand, the former Prime Minister said the constitution was a dynamic document and it could be amended as per the need of the country.
