According to Police Inspector Thapa, police recovered the fake currency notes from Ramdayal Thakur of Parsa district and Mohammad Mustakim Miya, an Indian national, after they stopped the motorcycle (Na 12 Pa 965) they were riding for checking. Thakur, who is currently living in Birgunj, was a proportional representation candidate of Rastriya Yatharthabadi Party in the second Constituent Assembly elections. Miya from Motihari district of the Indian Sate of Bihar was currently staying in a rented flat at Gadhimai municipality. Both Miya and Thakur were found carrying 50 fake Nepali currency notes of Rs 1000 denominations each, Superintendent of Police (SP) Ishwor Babu Karki of DPO, Bara informed at the press meet.
The police, who later raided Thakur´s house in Birgunj, found three fake Rs 500 notes bearing serial number Kha 53743877, Kha 51090758 and Kha 42062692. Gadhimai municipality for carrying counterfeit Nepali currency notes amounting to Rs 1,00,500. In a press meet organized on Tuesday, the DPO informed that a team of police personnel led by Inspector Kumar Bikram Thapa detained two persons from Ward-7 of Gadhimai municipality on Monday and seized the fake currency notes from them.
