Kharel was dragged into controversy after he made public comments that some of the aspirants during the promotion of DIGs were visiting ‘power centers’ carrying briefcases.Following his controversial remark, Nepal Police had started probe against Kharel. Nepal Police Headquarter on Sunday transferred Kathmandu’s Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Ramesh Kharel, replacing him with Uttam Karki.Kharel was on leave following investigation upon him for making controversial remarks.Karki, who replaces Kharel, was at the Central Investigation Bureau (CIB) of Nepal Police.
